‘I do not want to speak about kebab with the people, I want to speak about strengthening the borders’: Edmon Marukyan

“The statements made by the acting Prime Minister and the former government on Monday proved that our theories are correct. Their statements about destroying and trampling each other are very concerning. Our message about internal reconciliation and national solidarity is becoming more urgent,” the Bright Armenia party leader and candidate for prime minister Edmon Marukyan told reporters during a briefing at the party’s election campaign in Yerevan on Tuesday.

He emphasized that they will bring their agenda to citizens in the coming days. “One wants to destroy the other, the other wants to help destroy. There are former and current authorities and their supporters who say, ‘Dear Kocharyan, if you do not have a leash, we’ll give you one to tie,’ or when they say, ‘Dear Pashinyan, let’s come and trample them too…’ In other words, they have divided into two, and we are the only ones remaining who have made calls to unite.”

Edmon Marukyan expressed conviction that the citizens accept their message of forming unity and a national government, but in the meantime, ‘500-dram kebab eaters’ and other similar labels are mentioned. “Is this the rhetoric of the campaign? I do not want to speak about kebab with the people. I want to talk about strengthening the borders. We must set aside speeches about kebab and focus on our country’s problems.”
