During one of the recent election campaigns, Pashinyan said, “Our POWs will forgive us for waiting 1-2 extra months in captivity, but they won’t forgive us if we give up our sovereignty in exchange for their freedom.” According to Pashinyan, the opposition is misconstruing his words. “They’re saying that the Prime Minister said, ‘It’s ok, let the POWs wait two more months.’ And who is saying that? Serzhik. He found something to talk about. He’s once again in the public eye. Serzh said that I should give my son in exchange for the POWs. And when he speaks about my son, he refers to him as Ashotik. Serzhik, you don’t have the right to call my soldier son Ashotik.”
He called Serzh Sargsyan an “expert trafficker” and said, “I officially will tell Aliyev that I agree to give my son in exchange for all POWs. I officially am saying that I will give my son. And Serzhik, and Kocharyan, as experts in buying and selling people, I will allow you to negotiate this. And if you can make a few thousand dollars off of this, you will have a surplus on your plate.” Pashinyan announced that he is waiting for Serzh Sargsyan’s and Robert Kocharyan’s response.
