“The deeper the election campaign gets, the more we get the impression that the moment of seriousness is also related to our internal political processes because what is happening today is truly ridiculous, and very often, you start to be disappointed in the quality of those people,” the vice president of the Armenian National Congress, Levon Zurabyan, said to youth and representatives of civil society within the framework of the pre-election campaigns. In his opinion, in these fateful elections, it is very important that society realizes the significance of these elections. According to Zurabyan, a sociological survey was conducted, and he said that when he gets into a taxi, he speaks to the drivers, and after those conversations, he confirmed that our people are rather confused. The majority, it seems, wants to escape from the elections and avoid voting altogether.
Zurabyan, referring to Nikol Pashinyan’s statement on exchanging his son with the POWs, said, “The one who said that knows very well that it is a cheap trick directed only for domestic consumption. He knows very well that the addressee of that proposal, Ilham Aliyev, will simply respond to it with contempt. Aliyev will not see any value in such an exchange, and he will not be ready to give a serious answer to it. This proposal only emphasizes the state of humiliation in which Armenia found itself because of the policy pursued by these authorities. Such an offer was made in order to create the impression among some people that he is willing to sacrifice his son for the sake of his own people, almost with the same willingness as the biblical Abraham. This is a very cheap trick. And it is not only Pashinyan who gets involved in those cheap tricks; the other side shows its muscles all day and thinks that politics or power is in the muscles, not realizing that power is in the mind. In the modern world, heads of state do not personally take part in battles; they organize battles.”
