“The acting assistant secretary of the US is in Armenia, which is a rather high-ranking official. The Bright Armenia party sent him a letter that includes the list of Azerbaijan’s military-political authorities. Those are the people against whom the West must impose sanctions, freeze their assets, and ban their entrance to Western countries so that they can return Armenian POWs and withdraw their troops from Armenia’s sovereign territory,” the Bright Armenia party’s candidate for prime minister, Edmon Marukyan, announced during an election campaign in Alaverdi.
According to him, when the West wishes to punish any authoritarian regime that committed war crimes, it is possible through sanctions. “I trust that if sanctions are imposed against the Aliyev clan, the POWs will be returned and they will leave our territory.”
