“Our main task should be to uphold the security of our borders and people, but first of all that solution is with Russia, so that our soldier maintains the border shoulder to shoulder with Russian soldiers. Only then will it be safe, and the people will be sure,” Gagik Tsarukyan, the Prosperous Armenia party leader and the party’s candidate for prime minister, said during the election campaign in Yeghegnadzor. According to him, the 44-Day War proved the Russia was the only country that supported Armenia from day one.
He said that Russia still supports Armenia today because its border guards, together with the Armenian military, ensure the security of our country’s borders as it was before the war. “Our main ally is Russia, and that is not subject to review. Our relations have a centuries-long history. We have become brothers. We have always been close and we are now prepared to continue those relations.” Gagik Tsarukyan assured that Russia is prepared to continue to extend relations with Armenia.
Regarding Armenian economic development, Gagik Tsarukyan prioritized industrial and agricultural development. He considered the reopening of an agricultural ministry to be a priority. Gagik Tsarukyan also spoke about a program to pardon agricultural and healthcare loans.
