“No force should gather 51% of the vote because the other forces will say that the elections were rigged, and the people will bring that force to the square, which will cause clashes in our country. Turks are looking at their watches, waiting for that to happen,” the Bright Armenia party’s candidate for prime minister, Edmon Marukyan, announced during an election campaign in Yerevan in an interview with reporters.
In response to an observation about how parties need to form coalitions if they do not gather 50%+ of the vote, and within this context, who is Bright Armenia preparing to form a coalition with, Edmon Marukyan said, “If a parliament is formed according to our envisioned agenda, in other words, if the people support our agenda for peace, we are prepared to set our ambitions aside, and if necessary, not nominate a candidate for prime minister, and elect a prime minister candidate who is outside of all forces who will enjoy national agreement. We will not join the kind of force that intends on destroying another.”
