“During his visit to Armenia, Charles Aznavour was over our house for dinner. My mother was still alive at the time. Charles Aznavour was two years older than my mother. When speaking to my mother, he would call her ‘mom.’ You know, people are only as old as they feel. I met many young elderly people and many elderly young people. It depends on us; we decide how old we are. In this case, our team is not only unique in its age, but in its working knowledge and will,” second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan said during an election campaign in Hrazdan.
He said that during an interview in 2008, he was asked what he would do after he stopped being president, to which he responded, “I don’t know what I will do, but I definitely won’t be the youngest retiree.” Then, Robert Kocharyan announced, “On June 20th, we will have a young retiree who needs to be held responsible for what he did and didn’t do. At the time, I never thought that I would come back and send a request to be part of the government again. But today, I am obligated to do that. I see the demand from the people. You will be the creators of a new Armenia under my leadership.”
