“In my opinion, the Russians coordinated this war. It was beneficial to them to bring peacekeepers to Artsakh so that they could control the entire territory. Azerbaijan violated Armenia’s sovereign territory, but the CSTO did not respond. Who needs those agreements, then? The world did not respond when terrorists were hurting people in Artsakh,” a man said to the head of Bright Armenia, Edmon Marukyan, during Bright Armenia’s election campaign in the Sasunik village of the Aragatsotn province.
“I knew that Russians are murderers since I was born. Russia produces murderous weapons. Our economy is in the hands of Russians. We are in a state of dependency, and we have no other choice. What should we do?” the citizen asked.
Marukyan responded, “Whether we like it or not, we are a member of the CSTO. We must understand how it operates. We have never been the authorities to understand how we appealed to the CSTO, what they said, and what was discussed. Many discussions were not public. On the other hand, understanding that we do ot have allies, we should not become enemies with what we have. If we stand up and say that they are murderers, where will that lead us? Three million Armenians live in Russia. No one has found the solution. War happens when diplomacy fails, but these authorities were telling us that we have amazing relations with Russia. What was amazing?”
