“I made my decision 33 years ago and I have not changed my mind. I voted in favor of a safe, sovereign, and economically developed Armenia and Artsakh, and in favor of a strong Armenian army,” the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan told reporters during a briefing after voting. “The entire law enforcement system, especially in the last days of the campaign, is obviously instructed to use brute force against us. Unintelligible invitations are made to law enforcement departments, as well as illegal searches without a court decision,” Serzh Sargsyan noted, speaking about the legal violations that took place against the I Have Honor alliance.
“The illegal arrests were confirmed by judicial acts. We have been following the events closely since morning. I think we will make an announcement,” Serzh Sargsyan added. According to Serzh Sargsyan, the biggest problem today is to unite the divided society, without which it is impossible to have security and economic development. The journalists were interested in whether Robert Kocharyan forgave him for handing over power to Nikol Pashinyan. Serzh Sargsyan answered, “Only God can forgive me. No one else.” In response to a question of why the former Prime Minister, Karen Karapetyan, is supporting Robert Kocharyan and not him, Serzh Sargsyan said to ask Karen Karapetyan. “Is there something tragic about that?” Reporters also asked about what kind of future he sees if Nikol Pashinyan is reelected. Serzh Sargsyan responded that there would be no future.
