Journalists asked Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on June 23rd in Gyumri about the process of returning POWs. “I can say that this process is continuous. As we have seen, there is a process and it is continuous. I cannot say that this is an easy process, but I am convinced that we also have the opportunity to make mutual agreements in that case and resolve mutual issues,” Tigran Avinyan said. Upon the observation of whether we should expect the return of our POWs in the near future, Tigran Avinyan said, “I will not comment on that.”
We also inquired about the Armenian prisoners of war being tried in Baku from the acting Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan. “It is a completely illegal process that is not under legal regulation. The international community has already stated at all levels that they are dealing with prisoners of war, and it is necessary to immediately ensure the return of prisoners of war to the homeland. And I think these actions only harm Azerbaijan and, unfortunately, we are constantly delaying the return of prisoners, but I repeat, it is illegal on the part of Azerbaijan and it will receive its response.”
