The relatives of POWs have been carrying out a sit-in in front of the government building since morning. They demanded that the government immediately return their relatives to Armenia.
The trial of Armenian prisoners is taking place in Baku. They are accused of war crimes. The parents and relatives of POWs told Aravot Daily that they have neither faith nor patience. “They keep telling us to wait because negotiations are underway, but how long can we wait? Seven months have passed and there is no movement.” The POWs’ relatives ask how long they have to wait, and whether their sons and husbands are capable of waiting another few months, especially if they have health problems.
According to one of the relatives, they gave soldiers to defend the homeland, but today their children, husbands, and brothers are being tried as terrorists. “Our government does not protect the interests of those children. Did we give them a terrorist?” Nobody cares about their lives and their future. They tear themselves apart that there is a future, is the Baku prison their future?” According to the relatives, their demand is also to send a group of international lawyers to Baku so that they can be with the boys during the trials so that everything goes legally. According to Tigran Ambardaryan, whose brother is among the POWs, the new government must work in different directions and expand that work in order to have a result. “We do not have any results at the moment, that is why we took this step.” The government responded to the relatives’ complaints and listened to them. According to Tigran Ambardaryan, they also had a meeting with Nikol Pashinyan yesterday, the details of which, however, cannot be made public.

Tigran Ambardaryan’s brother was captured in the Khtsaberd and Hin Tagher portion when he was defending those settlements as part of the reserve. The relatives spoke to and had video calls with their captured relatives via the Red Cross. According to Tigran Ambardaryan, 8 of them have already returned to their homeland, and the remaining captives after seven months should be returned immediately, as their relatives are also in a very bad psychological state.
