Aravot Daily interviewed former member of parliament from Artsakh, Vahram Atanesyan.
– How do people in Artsakh feel about the reproduction of the Civil Contract in Armenia? The outcome of the Armenian elections was, in fact, a lifeline for the people of Artsakh, and there is also an opinion that this is how the final surrender of Artsakh takes place.

I did not carry out a sociological survey. As far as I know, no one has done one. And when there is no clear basis, I cannot say that the people of Artsakh reject or support Pashinyan.
– Who and what will benefit from Arayik Harutyunyan’s resignation right now? Are there any regulations in place for transferring power, and how effective will it be to implement given the context of current events?
Of course, there are formal constitutional regulations. In the event of the president’s resignation, early elections shall be held within 40 days. The question is, will we have a practical opportunity in the current situation? But those who demand President Harutyunyan’s resignation do not want to take into account the Constitution. The intrigue is here. They propose to create a “committee” and assign it both legislative and executive powers. I have the impression that someone is just trying to be the governor-general of the rest of the Armenian part of Artsakh under the auspices of the Russian peacekeepers. The rest is simple crowdfunding. Of course, there is a need for change in Artsakh. But they have to go step by step. Amend the Electoral Code, adopt a new law on parties, and implement constitutional reform.
– Recently, Aliyev and Erdogan signed an economic and political cooperation agreement in Shushi. Erdogan did not rule out the possibility of establishing a Turkish military base in Azerbaijan under the declaration signed in Shushi. What is this in reference to?
The details of that document are confidential. Under my impression, they are discussing Turkish formal military presence in Azerbaijan, but Ilham Aliyev is uneasy about Moscow’s treatment. Will Ilham Aiyev agree to having a permanent Russian military presence in Azerbaijan? It is difficult to make predictions.
