Council of Europe Secretary General sends congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan
Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has sent a congratulatory message to Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the successful conduct of parliamentary elections. The message reads, in part:
“Dear Prime Minister,
I would like to congratulate you on the successful conduct of the early parliamentary elections which took place in Armenia on 20 June. I welcome the fact that these elections were assessed by international observers, including by a delegation of our Parliamentary Assembly, as competitive and generally well managed.

Importantly, the election results demonstrated the strong support of the Armenian people for policies of reform as conducted under your leadership. Now that the electoral campaign is over, it is time to focus on constructive dialogue with all political parties and the civil society. In that respect, please be reassured that the Council of Europe stands ready to provide any further assistance to Armenia in the reform process, based on our human rights, democracy and rule of law standards.”
