The agenda of the July 15 four-day sittings of the National Assembly included the issue of adopting the document authored by the independent deputies, fixing the official position of the Republic of Armenia on the Artsakh conflict, but the sitting did not take place because the deputies were busy with the campaign. Taguhi Tovmasyan, one of the authors of the project, said this at a briefing with journalists in parliament.
She said, “But today, the campaigns are over, and we once again tried to include this issue on the agenda during the extraordinary sessions initiated by My Step, but we were denied. My Step did not find the time to accept this document, but the National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs all approved it.” Independent deputy Sofya Hovsepyan said in her turn, “I appealed to the Speaker of the National Assembly so that the draft could have been discussed during the extraordinary session agenda. Ararat Mirzoyan responded that we must appeal to the initiator, My Step. The faction and the appropriate committee have not responded until now. This statement on the Artsakh issue was simply ignored by the authorities.”
