“The accusation is entirely false. It was made up by the Special Investigative Committee and confirmed by the prosecutor within the framework of political orders,” third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said in court in response to Judge Vahe Misakyan’s question of whether he finds himself guilty or not. According to him, he listened to the accuser’s reading, which was written by people who are unaware of the case. The trial on the case of Serzh Sargsyan, owner of the Flesh company Barsegh Beglaryan, and Gevorg Harutyunyan took place at the Avan and Nor Nork office of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction. In response to the judge’s question of if they can record that he does not find himself guilty, Serzh Sargsyan said, “I am not guilty.”
Serzh Sargsyan is accused of embezzling a large amount of money- 489,160,310 AMD. According to the indictment, from April 9, 2008 to April 9, 2018, Serzh Sargsyan held the post of the President of the Republic of Armenia, and being an official acting as a permanent representative of the government and using his official position at the instigation of Barsegh Beglaryan with the support of Samvel Galstyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan, the amount of government subsidies allocated for 15,391,765 liters of diesel fuel sold during the implementation of state support programs was wasted by Sergo Karapetyan between January 25 and February 7 of 2013 from the reserve fund of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, which consisted of a large amount of money: 489,160,310 AMD.
Barsegh Beglaryan and Gevorg Harutyunyan also did not accept the accusations against them. “I do not find myself guilty. I did not force anyone. The money that was provided to the Flesh company from the subsidies… that is not possible,” Barsegh Beglaryan said. “I do not find myself guilty. This accusation is unfounded,” Gevorg Harutyunyan said.
