In January-May of this year, the economic activity index reached 4.3% as compared to the same period of the previous year. On Tuesday, the Statistical Committee published a report on the socio-economic situation in Armenia.
Accordingly, the economic activity index in May of this year compared to April was 2.0%, and 10.9% in May of this year compared to May of last year.
During the session of the government on July 1st, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the draft budget for 2021 projected 3.2% economic growth, but as a result of the revision of this indicator, 6% economic growth is forecast for this year. And the acting Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan aimed to close the year with double-digit economic growth. He considered the forecast of 6% economic growth quite conservative.
The growth of export volumes in the first five months of this year, of course, increased in comparison with the same period last year, but it can be said that this growth was not satisfactory; it was only 0.8%, and the growth of import volumes in the mentioned period was 6.7%.
