“I want to reaffirm that the European Union supports and is ready to support the work done within the framework of the Minsk Group. We have inspired the Minsk Group to continue its work. There are several issues that need to be addressed in the short and long term in order to bring stability to this region and solve serious problems,” European Council President Charles Michel said at a press conference on Saturday after talks with acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“The first is moderate rhetoric. We should try to avoid aggressive rhetoric. The European Union has spoken about the captives and the minefield maps. The next is the demarcation. Let’s hope this will be possible through negotiations and dialogue. We believe that the withdrawal of both sides’ armed forces from the disputed territories will be useful so that discussions can take place. In our opinion, possible cooperation in the transport sector should also be discussed in order to promote economic growth. And in the end, as a common point, the issue of status and peace talks should also be possible to discuss.”
