By the decision of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, the mayor of the Sisian community, Artur Sargsyan, was detained for two months. However, according to lawyer Emin Khachatryan, his arrest was recognized as illegal. The lawyer will appeal the court decision.
The mayor of Sisian is charged with Article 308, Part 2 (abuse of official authority) and Article 314, Part 1 (for embezzling obviously false information or entries in official documents by an official for profit or other personal motives or group interests; falsification, scratching, or making other entries or alterations, as well as compiling or submitting false documents) of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
