“I have information that the Azerbaijani side wanted to advance along Khoznavar on Saturday and Sunday, but due to several dedicated individuals, they were neutralized to the point where Sunday was relatively calm,” the director of the International Center for Human Development, Tevan Poghosyan, said during a press conference at the Henaran press club.
He criticized the fact that state officials are citing unofficial sources, and said, “It is not only incomprehensible for the internal audience, but also the international community. There is special information for that. If that information is provided by state institutions, the head of state is proud to say that he has the kind of state institutions that can give him reliable information. It is formulated as according to our reliable sources, according to our NSS, according to our diplomatic sources, and not unofficially. You can find it on social media or on the street. In such cases, you already start thinking that the head of state says, dear people, we do not have state institutions from which I will receive information, I do not know where I got it from, or it means he might be trying to send a message to other institutions. Other institutions, as I try to understand, are not classified as relatives or friends, but rather a message from a hostile side that if you have something to do, do it today.”
Tevan Poghosyan noted that when we ask where Armenia or Azerbaijan would get such information, why we are believing unofficial sources when the leader of Azerbaijan talks about that every day, and continued, “When they say it’s time to think about peace, we are now in a state of war. There’s a war, and the enemy wants to destroy you during the war. Why should I be surprised that Azerbaijan is going to carry out operations every day. When they shoot in Yeraskh or Shushi, is it just because? Do they avoid returning our POWs just because? Does it have to be a shooting operation? The enemy says that Artsakh does not exist and Yerevan belongs to them. Isn’t it the same pain? Is it only the shooting? They’ve told us many times in Yeraskh that they want to destroy us, and they have the appetite.”
