July 27,2021 12:20

On July 26th, Nikol Pashinyan met with the deputies of Civil Contract. After the meeting, Alen Simonyan, who is the candidate for National Assembly Speaker, told reporters during a briefing what was discussed with the acting prime minister. According to Alen Simonyan, they first discussed their future activities and the parliament-government cooperation. The situation at the border was not discussed. Simonyan announced this. He said that the ruling party already decided that a parliamentary investigative commission will be established that will investigate issues surrounding the 44-Day War.

The Civil Contract intends on including the extra-parliamentary opposition in this commission. “We must try to understand what solutions we will provide legally so that extra-parliamentary forces will be included in the investigative commission,” Alen Simonyan said. As far as what forces they are, Simonyan said that candidates can be considered the forces or the format that Nikol Pashinyan has initiated and has already met with those forces once or twice. In response to the question that there are opinions that the commission cannot be objective as it will be headed by the ruling force, Alen Simonyan answered that the people of Armenia gave the answer to all those questions on June 20th, the day of the snap elections. “I do not think anyone will dare to discuss the decision of the Armenian people anymore.”
