‘Robert Kocharyan did what you said’: Maria Karapetyan to opposition

August 11,2021 14:10

“Mrs. Manukyan, yesterday, you said that our authorities changed the Artsakh issue from the right to self-determination to a territorial conflict. Robert Kocharyan did what you said when instead of keeping the elected representatives of Artsakh in negotiations at any cost, he brought them out and started his model of resolving the conflict through the exchange of territories via the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia,” Civil Contract deputy Maria Karapetyan said to Armenia alliance deputy Aregnaz Manukyan.

She also referred to Anna Mkrtchyan’s statement from I Have Honor that the Republican Party left a good legacy of negotiations. Karapetyan said, “You refer to the fact that Aliyev confessed that he was forced to recognize Artsakh’s independence behind closed doors. I prefer to refer to Serzh Sargsyan’s words that after the April war, he made another concession in terms of whether the referendum issue was limited or not. As the Constitution of Azerbaijan did not allow the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to ask whether they wanted to be independent or not, he agreed to leave the issue out of the package. This is the wonderful legacy you have left behind.”
