‘The people rejected them just like their leaders did, they are now in the political dump’: Alen Simonyan on the opposition

August 11,2021 17:50

“I am under the impression that there is no sense of unity within the opposition parties, or a governing body. Honestly. Because the two alliances try to gain favor with insults, labels, and mischief since they have nothing else to say,” Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan said during the NA session. I Have Honor alliance deputy Anna Mkrtchyan had been forced to leave the hall for using the phrase “capitulator Nikol” a second time.

Alen Simonyan noted, “If you cannot restrain your colleagues, I will do it. Don’t doubt that I’ll do it in the toughest manner.” Then, Simonyan appealed to Civil Contract. “I urge you not to respond to every provocation. People lost, and they are very upset about their defeat. Some of them are still upset. They don’t understand that after spending all that money and spreading all that hate… yes, they were the ones to spread hate.

When the police were beating women in the streets, Civil Contract as the opposition was not spreading hate speech. Please ignore them. This is their weakness, and their final cry of helplessness. The people rejected them just like their leaders did. They are not in the political dump. Don’t respond to people who do not have an education or upbringing. They still don’t understand where they are.”
