“You were a member of the ruling party until 2020. Do you truly carry the responsibility for everything that happened while you were a member of the ruling political party?” Civil Contract faction member and Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan asked the I Have Honor faction’s candidate for Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Rights Defense and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan, in parliament.
“You know, and I have stated many times that I am not someone to escape responsibility. I am responsible for everything I’ve done and all their consequences. However, I am responsible for everything I’m aware of. I cannot be responsible for things I am not aware of. And you know very well that the faction, especially during and after the war, and that I at least as a representative of the faction, was unaware of any of the ruling party’s activities, logic, and the basis for these activities. And if I am unaware, naturally, I cannot be responsible for being unaware,” Taguhi Tovmasyan said.
Ruben Rubinyan continued, “But are you aware of all the activities of the I Have Honor alliance, Ms. Tovmasyan?” Taguhi Tovmasyan said that the I Have Honor alliance is newly-formed with “different traditions.” She emphasized that I Have Honor is an opposition alliance, and the responsibility of opposition deputies is different. “Naturally, I also am responsible for these activities.”
