The Democratic Party of Armenia will officially apply to the embassies of the OSCE Minsk Group member states and various international organizations, to review the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs so it can use real levers to prevent Turkey’s progress in the region. The chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia, Aram Sargsyan, stated this during a press conference at the “Sputnik Armenia” press center.
Especially after November 9, the regional actors are changing, and in these new realities, the appearance of Turkey and radical Islamic Pakistan in the region, according to the speaker, shows that we are dealing with far-reaching Turkish interests that endanger not only Armenia, but also Russia’s immediate interests. Aram Sargsyan does not know under what circumstances Russia allowed Turkey to invade the region. “We have what we have and in this case, I see that the Armenian government, represented by the Prime Minister, declares that yes, we have no desire to conquer this or that territory. I think that no one has forgotten that Armenia should be the guarantor of the security of the population of the Artsakh Republic. Not saying anything about the status of Artsakh, the territories occupied by Azerbaijan, and the security of the population of Artsakh means that we want some peace for the territory that exists in Armenia in these conditions.”
Recent events, according to Aram Sargsyan, show that the Kremlin has come to the conclusion that they will simply provide physical security for the territory of the Republic of Armenia and the territory of the Republic of Artsakh under their control. “This is where a certain contradiction arises because if Armenia does not take on the issue of liberating the occupied territories, it will mean that Russia takes on that responsibility, which creates an absurd situation in the region.
Now it is not the Armenians who will not give ‘an inch of land,’ but the Russians, because in this case not only Armenia will be lost, but Turkey will invade Russia.” He used this context to explain the recent process of deployment of Russian troops in different parts of the Armenian border. According to him, the actions of official Yerevan should be in line with these developments, which they do not see yet. Aram Sargsyan is convinced that if Ankara is not stopped today, a number of actors will have a “headache” in the future.

He considers it a necessity to prevent the formation of a new geopolitical pole of Turkic-speaking countries by any means, which reaches as far as China. The Democratic Party also thinks that the Armenian parliament should finally propose a bill documenting the legality of the formation of the Artsakh, which will also show the legitimacy of Artsakh’s declaration of independence. The Democratic Party considers the issue of recognition of Artsakh’s independence by Armenia to be premature at the moment.
