According to Aravot Daily’s sources, Vardan Ghukasyan’s son, Spartak Ghukasyan, was found and arrested. The Shirak Regional Investigative Department pressed charges.
He had made threats against the police inspector who had visited their home, and as a result, a criminal case was filed in accordance with Article 316, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which regards violence against a government official.
The day prior, an incident had occurred with the former mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasyan, and his son. According to the documents prepared by the police, the former mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan, who had visited one of the houses on Hakobyan Street in Gyumri with 3-4 men between 11 PM and 11:15 PM, knocked on the gates of the house, entered the yard, and pushed the owner, a retired woman, saying, “In this house, there is a stupid inspector who has written something about me. I need to see him.”
Following the incident, the police visited the house of the former mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan on August 18 at 12:35 AM to make clarifications. However, Vardan Ghukasyan’s son, Spartak Ghukasyan, answered from the second floor window of the house that he did not want to open the door because it was late. At 12:59 AM on the same day, Spartak Ghukasyan called the inspector who visited the Ghukasyans’ house and accused him of visiting their house in an aggressive tone while threatening to kill him.
