Seyran Ohanyan: ‘At the moment, unblocking the routes will lead to a deep blockade for Armenia and Artsakh’

August 26,2021 18:30

The head of the Armenia faction Seyran Ohanyan touched upon the issues of the country’s security during the discussion of the government’s five-year program in the parliament on Thursday, but before his speech, he apologized for the incidents that took place in the National Assembly during the past two days.

According to Seyran Ohanyan, there is no clear assessment of the military-political situation in the government’s program to assess the fragility of the security environment and the growing state of threats.

Ohanyan said that the entry of regional actors, especially Turkey, into the South Caucasus did not force them to make a strategic defense review and have a plan for the development of the armed forces or reforms. “The program does not correspond to the growing uncertainties facing Armenia and Artsakh. We, of course, reject the psychology of the defeated, entering into the illusion of untimely and baseless peace with Azerbaijan.

Of course, we are in favor of the transit role, this is not the first time we’ve said it, but only with reasonable solutions based on our national and state interests.” According to him, “At the moment, unblocking the routes will lead to a deep blockade for Armenia and Artsakh.”
