Aravot Daily spoke to a member of the Fighting Brotherhood initiative, participant in the 2020 war Avetis Avetisyan.
- Avetisyan, what ideas and goals do you have?
Our initiative has deep goals in reality. It must be able to fill the lack of self-confidence that exists today. There is an atmosphere of widespread fear and uncertainty among people. Now people who have not come within 7 kilometers of the border even in peacetime give assessments, talk about the war, and make analyses of the war. We want to correct all this so that first, the people know what really happened.

What we have seen and what we have gone through are presented in the wrong way today. They are being deceived. We want people to know the truth, learn lessons, and prepare for future wars, which are inevitable.
- As a participant of the war, what questions have remained problematic and questionable for you so far? What is the “truth” you mentioned that has not been available to the general public until now?
From planning the smallest military operations to political issues, nothing is clear. It is dark in all matters, from local military operations to large-scale operations, for example, “Lele-Tepe.” One can not talk about the fall of Shushi at all… it is dark and gloomy.
- And what problems did you notice while there that people are not aware of?
The trenches we had in 1994 still exist where I was in Yeghnikner… We have been deceived for years that we live badly because they are building the army, because the money goes to the army․․․ Lies․․․ We did not even have a radio connection. When I was injured, five of the soldiers died. Maybe we would have avoided that. I am only talking about radio communication. The congregation we created has big goals, so I would not like to burden you with such small problems now. At the same time, it is true that they seem small, but from those small things, people’s lives have been distorted and ruined.
- Aren’t you afraid of being called a revanchist? Today, from the leaders of the enemy state to our political elite, there is talk of excluding revenge.
A new war is inevitable, and the enemy will start it again, whether we like it or not. Even if we gather in the square and say, “Dear enemies, please do not start a war,” it doesn’t matter- they will start it. Aliyev has a clear plan․ He says that Yerevan is also theirs. He had some success in the Artsakh issue, now he has reached Gegharkunik and Yerevan. This speaks about the fact that he has a new program and motivates his people accordingly. We will not start a war. The enemy will start the war as it always has.
