In other words, these authorities understand that it is possible to change the public mood with such topics. By distracting the public mood, you do not neutralize the threats to your country and territorial integrity,” Anna Grigoryan, a member of the Armenia alliance faction, told Aravot Daily today.
She said, “If we compare the statements of the Azerbaijani side and what actions they actually take, it is clear that they are not just rhetorical statements. The militaristic statements they made throughout the years finally come true in 2020, so I think that the statements made by Azerbaijan should be taken very seriously, including the joint Turkish-Azerbaijani military exercises in Lachin at the moment.” According to Anna Grigoryan, Armenia has provided an absolutely inadequate response. “Instead of concentrating all our intellectual and other resources and overcoming the challenges and risks posed by the real enemy, we are pursuing the search for our internal enemies, what has happened in the last three years. It is obvious that these authorities are not doing anything to protect the territorial integrity of our country or to ensure our security.
After all, Azerbaijani soldiers are still stationed in our country today in both Gegharkunik and Syunik. They even make statements that these are their territories, they are not going to leave. We already have 3 soldiers who got lost in the vicinity of Lake Sev and are currently being held captive in Azerbaijan. These are the real challenges and the problems that we have to solve. Today in Gegharkunik and yesterday in Yeraskh, our soldiers are dying, and this is happening while our authorities are advancing the peace theory at different levels. Of course, I understand that it is better for all of us to live in a peaceful environment, but let us understand what the real challenges are. When your soldiers are captured not even as prisoners of war, when there are constant attacks, and when your interstate roads are closed, the adequate answer is not to advance the thesis of peace at all.
First of all, bring your armed forces to a position where they can more or less maintain the borders of your country, build such relations with your strategic allies that they can support you and stand behind you, and work with the international community, which I am not at all seeing today.”
