At some point in the investigation of the 44-day war against Azerbaijan, Armenia will also submit a monetary claim. “The issue of the return of prisoners is a bit complicated. All the necessary legal mechanisms have been implemented in the European Court of Human Rights, so to speak. It was not possible to do more, but this was not satisfied in the ECHR,” said Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the representative of the Republic of Armenia in the European Court of Human Rights, in a conversation with Aravot Daily, adding that it was expected for them that Armenia’s claim might not be satisfied.
The claim was based on the danger of ethnic Armenians staying in Azerbaijan, which developed over decades. The representative of the Republic of Armenia in the ECHR informed that at some stage of the examination of the complaint submitted to the ECHR on the issue of the 44-day war against Azerbaijan, Armenia will also submit a monetary claim. At the ECHR, the Republic of Armenia also touched upon the issue of return of refugees to their former places of residence, which is defined by the November 9 agreement.
He said that on behalf of 90 thousand and more deportees, the complaint is being examined in the ECHR. We have to wait a long time for the final decision.
