Ambassador Hovakimian expressed special gratitude to Armenia’s Czech friends – the senators, deputies, public figures and journalists who stood by the Armenian people in this difficult time

On September 7, ahead of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the Czech Republic and the “ORER” pan-European magazine, in cooperation with the “Slavic Union” and the Prague Municipal Library, held an evening dedicated to Armenia.

The event was launched by the opening of the traveling exhibition on Armenia, Armenian historical-cultural heritage and prominent Armenian personalities, followed by the Czech premiere of the “Gate to Heaven” feature film about the First Artsakh war and the four-day war by renowned Armenian director Jivan Avetisyan, in tribute to all our heroes who sacrificed their lives for their homeland.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian, the Editor-in-Chief of the “ORER” pan-European magazine Hakob Asatryan, the Chairman of the “Slavic Union” Vojtěch Merunka, the Program Director of the Union Jiří Králík and the Czech co-producers of the film “Gate to Heaven” Martin Raiman and Steve Reverand.

In his address, Ambassador Hovakimian presented the symbolism of the event in the context of the 30th anniversaries of the independence of the Republic of Armenia and the proclamation of the Republic of Artsakh and spoke of the trials underwent the previous year and the challenges faced by the Armenian people. He expressed special gratitude to Armenia’s Czech friends – the senators, deputies, public figures and journalists who stood by the Armenian people in this difficult time.

The event was attended by a number of Czech political and public figures, academics, artists, journalists and many representatives of the Armenian community in the Czech Republic.
