“I was the first to voice that the Azeris entered Syunik. The government denied it, then it was confirmed. There were a thousand people in June, now there are more. They are doing active engineering work and preparing for the winter,” said Vahe Hakobyan, a member of the Armenia alliance and former governor of Syunik, referring to the invasion of Syunik by the Azerbaijani armed forces, during a briefing with journalists in parliament on September 24th.
“The agreements made behind our back about the corridor and territories will take place in the near future. The situation in Syunik is the same. Yes, there is large emigration. The government is doing everything to promote the eviction of Armenians. I hope that Arush Arushanyan from our alliance will be re-elected mayor of Goris in October. He is detained, but we will work in those conditions as well. His father, his comrades-in-arms, and his detained deputies Menua Hovsepyan and Irina Yolyan… they will conduct the campaign,” Vahe Hakobyan said.
