The opposition will “attack” the Constitutional Court

September 25,2021 21:21

Two of the issues on which the parliamentary opposition factions have appealed to the Constitutional Court refer to National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan. The opposition MP said this today in a conversation with journalists during the break between the debates in the parliament. The first refers to the issue of Alen Simonyan being elected NA Speaker.

Aram Vardevanyan said that besides Alen Simonyan, there were two other candidates for NA Speaker, but they did not have the opportunity to speak or present a program; moreover, they were detained. The next issue concerns the structures for conducting the NA sittings. According to the speaker, the opposition is reprimanded and deprived of the opportunity to speak, but the government is not. Aram Vardevanyan emphasized that the abilities of the session’s leader should be made clear.

Aram Vardevanyan also referred to the order of the Minister of Health, according to which public workers must either be vaccinated against the coronavirus or submit a negative test result every 14 days. “Vaccination is a conscious decision of every person. Let them talk and explain why it is necessary to be vaccinated, but not mandate it. Let the state pay for the PCR examination. With all the socioeconomic problems, why should citizens have to spend extra money or be vaccinated?” The opposition will also appeal to the Constitutional Court on this issue.

Opposition deputies will also appeal to the Constitutional Court to review the bonuses of political officials. “We are talking about political positions – deputy, minister, deputy minister. They should not receive a bonus, and if they do, there should be standards. ”
