The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan (Judge Gagik Poghosyan) is currently examining the motion of the preliminary investigation body to detain Davit Galstyan (known as “Patron Davo”), the founder of the arms supply company, as a measure of restraint. His lawyer Armen Harutyunyan told reporters the following about the criminal case: “It is a completely new case that has nothing to do with the old one. The journalists inquired whether he had also undertaken the defense of the former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan. “No, we have nothing to do with David Tonoyan at all,” Armen Harutyunyan answered. Back in January it became known that Davit Galstyan, Davit Tonoyan’s former adviser, is going through four criminal cases. He was arrested and later released by a court decision. Today, the National Security Service announced that Davit Tonyan and Davit Tonyan were arrested based on abusing official authority, committing official falsification, and suspicion of embezzlement by high-ranking officials of the RA Ministry of Defense to the amount of 2,277,323,840 AMD.
