“Any statement made by Aliyev that he does and will do should be “combined” with his national dream,” the president of the International Center for Human Development and analyst Tevan Poghosyan told Aravot in response to the President of Azerbaijan’s speech. “I appeal to… those in Armenia who live with a sense of revenge. Think about yourself. The iron fist is here, it has not gone anywhere, it is in place…” Ilham Aliyev said, urging Armenians to renounce attempts at revenge.
According to Tevan Poghosyan, Aliyev makes such statements because he understands that Armenians are their enemies and he knows very well that he has not destroyed and reached Yerevan yet. “Aliyev is tired of telling us in plain text, and I do not know how much he has to say for the Armenian nation to understand. He says, dear boys, Zangezur is mine, Sevan is mine, Erivan is mine, and I will come and take them. The man explains that it is not over for him and he will come to do it. He says I did so much by force, now after this you have to open everything, surrender, and sign the papers so that I can do it economically and financially to get you out of there. And every time he tries to remind us of this when a political part of the Armenian nation, a group of 10 million Armenians says that we have a homeland, we must restore the homeland, we owe victory to our boys, that we are not in any way going to forget and so on.”
According to Tevan Poghosyan, the meaning of what Aliyev said is the same with different vocabulary. “We must finally understand that the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem is our enemy and their ultimate goal is the elimination of the Armenian nation from this region and the eradication of Armenia. Even if Aliyev is not there, isn’t the next generation brought up like that? Have they changed any of their history textbooks that they teach and preach? Have we heard that they have changed since November 10, has Turkey begun to accept history, the genocide, or does Turkey deny it to the end? These people have not changed, the goals of these people have not changed, what are we creating artificial agendas for ourselves that will not be implemented in real life? We are opening an era of peace and so on and so forth. It will not happen, the enemy wants to eliminate you. The enemy says openly that you are our enemy. Once the enemy says it this way, once another way, depending on whom they want to convey that program to.”

According to Poghosyan, no one condemns the speeches of the President of Azerbaijan with such vocabulary. “Was hitting Armenians on the head with an iron fist only for Armenians? Have we only heard that? It was heard by their partners – Turkey, Pakistan, it was heard by the international community. Did one of them speak against it, did Aliyev say, what kind of iron are you making with your fists? That he opened such a park, then what, did the park disappear, did his upbringing of hating Armenians disappear, did his desire to eliminate Armenians disappear? In all of this we need to be smarter and understand that what is being said is not just for us, it is also for conveying messages to others. It is also for the international community that if you suddenly try to do something against me, say, publish about my family’s corruption, I will speak harshly. With such a vocabulary, Aliyev is more respected and loved by the Azerbaijanis than our leadership, because our leadership does not live with us today. Knowing that the enemy does not want peace, he says an era of peace is beginning.”
