On Friday during the briefings in the National Assembly, Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of the committee, was asked about the powers that the vice chair has, the main reason why he was adamantly against electing Ghazinyan to that position, and if the I Have Honor faction has another candidate in mind for that position. Aleksanyan answered, “Your question is a continuation of Artur Ghazinyan’s thoughts that we are afraid of him, which is why we will not elect him to that position, which is an absolute lie. First, Artur Ghazinyan is not a fear-inspiring figure at all, and second, the deputy chair of the commission has no special authority. He conducts the sitting when the chair of the commission is absent. As for why we do not vote, we can provide a 6-hour video format of our committee meetings here. There are many reasons. For example, Artur Ghazinyan did not serve in the Armed Forces. At the same time, Ghazinyan does not know the basic issues related to the armed forces.”
Upon the observation that Pashinyan, who did not serve in the Armed Forces, could have been Prime Minister, but you did not elect Ghazinyan as the Vice Chair of the National Assembly committee because he didn’t serve, Aleksanyan answered. “Yes, he should have had an idea of the structure of the armed forces at least. Artur Ghazinyan does not have that. The next reason is Artur Ghazinyan’s large financial means, and he does not explain where he got it from. He says he did business, but there is no information about it. Besides, Artur Ghazinyan makes a number of statements that are unacceptable to me. How do you imagine that the deputy chair of the commission will have a positive attitude towards the participation of the Armenian Armed Forces in the internal political life?” As for the preferred candidate, Aleksanyan said, “We do not have a desirable candidate, we have an undesirable candidate and that is Artur Ghazinyan.”
