October 15,2021 12:00

“Armenia presents you with an unrealistic picture,” said Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s representative at the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague. He assured that the motion submitted by Armenia is groundless and it should be rejected. The UN International Court of Justice (ICJ) is holding public hearings in The Hague on October 14-15 on the basis of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

The views of the Armenian side were presented in court in the first half of the day on October 14. The representative of Azerbaijan in the Hague court, Elnur Mammadov, assured, “One of the priorities of President Aliyev’s policy is to ensure ethnic and cultural diversity and cultural compatibility. Armenia presents you with an inaccurate picture.” He mentioned that Armenia allegedly started a war against Azerbaijan, presenting it as Artsakh.

Speaking about the “trophy park” in Baku, he stated that some exhibits of that park, such as helmets and mannequins, have been permanently removed from the park. The other representatives of Azerbaijan tried to present why the court should reject Armenia’s motion. Instead, they stated that Armenia did not provide minefield maps to Azerbaijan. As a fulfillment of Azerbaijan’s commitments, they presented that in December 2020, Azerbaijan held the soldiers who destroyed Armenian cemeteries accountable. Speaking about the Armenian prisoners of war, the Azerbaijani side stated that these people are not captives, but are suspected of committing a crime, that is why their trial is underway.
