In a conversation with Aravot, Minister of Education and Science of Artsakh Lusine Gharakhanyan confirmed the information that there are 4 dozen Azeri paintings under Armenian control after the first Artsakh war, which the Armenian side is ready to exchange. The Minister of the Artsakh Republic noted that the Azerbaijani side, which had not been interested in those paintings for 30 years, was offered to exchange them with the remaining Armenian cultural values in Shushi.
“It is a paradoxical thing. They are not interested in their values, but they are used to robbing others. I can not say in detail what works they are. I know that they are Azerbaijani paintings. We offered this option in the framework of cooperation with the Russian peacekeepers immediately after the war, but these people are ignorant. They are a nation that does not appreciate culture, but plunders it. We are in such a difficult situation. There are cultural and educational staff in the Russian peacekeeping contingent, and we have worked with them,” she said.
