“Do not forget that we were in a common security system and had joint maps, in the scope of which the relevant processes related to the armed forces of the Soviet Union were carried out. Of course, Armenia also has those maps,” the chair of the NA Committee on Defense and Security, Civil Contract MP Andranik Kocharyan, said at a briefing on Friday, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement that the maps on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border demarcation process are kept only at their headquarters. As for Putin’s remark that the process is not possible without Russia’s participation, journalists asked if Russia is trying to solve the issue without the OSCE format.
Kocharyan did not agree. “It cannot be like that. The Minsk Group has a specific task that exists, and the Minsk Group is functioning. As for Russia’s participation in our security issues, do not forget that the ceasefire document is trilateral, and Russia has a significant presence in it.”
