“Our national interest is peace, but it also implies peaceful approaches by other partners”: Vahe Gevorgyan

November 04,2021 17:15

“One of the most important provisions of the government’s five-year action plan is something unprecedented in the history of Armenia. Do you have a change in that concept? We have declared that we are building peace in the region. Did you manage to digest that question, taking into account that there were changes in the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?” Civil Contract MP Gurgen Arsenyan asked the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahe Gevorgyan during the discussion on the 2022 state budget in the NA standing committees.

Vahe Gevorgyan noted, “The peace agenda is part of the government’s program, and it is clear that it is also reflected in the activities of our diplomacy. At the same time, I emphasize that peace presupposes not only the peaceful approaches of the Republic of Armenia, but also its certain reflection in other partners of the region. Our intentions are peaceful. We try to solve the existing problems in a peaceful way.

At the same time, the diplomatic toolkit should also demand the same approach from the partners and cooperate with that approach. Our foreign policy is aimed at pursuing the national interests of the Republic of Armenia and establishing stability in the region. Our national interest is peace, but it also presupposes peaceful approaches by other partners.”
