“I collected the details of the ministers’ lightheartedness during the war, going to Artsakh turned into tourist voyages”: Gegham Manukyan

“Why is there no need to set up such a commission in Artsakh?” Gegham Manukyan, a member of the Armenia faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, raised such a question during the discussion on “The Need for an Investigative Committee on the War: Post-war Recovery.” According to him, it is not only by building 100 houses in Artsakh.

According to Gegham Manukyan, the government has tried to set up an informal commission of inquiry by various means; in fact, there is that commission of inquiry. He explained that there are investigative commissions in law enforcement bodies and noted, “Investigators who graduated from law school two or three years ago become investigators investigate the actions of the regiment leader, make arrests based on that, and so on.” Speaking about the statements of Nikol Pashinyan in the question-answer session with the members of the government in the RA National Assembly, Gegham Manukyan said,  “There were two things. One of the lies is that Nikol Pashinyan was left with the question of whether he was aware of the war on September 27 or not as a result of various questions a few days apart. The other is why the troops withdrew in Syunik. We regularly ask on what basis the Armenian troops withdrew in Syunik, but there is no answer.”

The problems of military-political management during the war remain open. Gegham Manukyan said, “We were all at war, we knew it was a fight, there was an attack, but did anyone know what a bunker was, what a map was in a bunker, what decision the commander made? Nobody knew.  The minister was doing their job, the governor was doing their job. I have collected the details of all the ministers’ lightheartedness in those days. When the Minister of Nature Protection was sharing a picture with a sniper rifle, when all the ministers had made going to Artsakh tourist voyages. Five deputies were elected from the Civil Contract and stopped at the airport without military service. They have decided whether this product should go to the Ministry of Defense or whether it has no military significance.” Therefore, if a commission of inquiry is formed, it must have all the documentary grounds and have the right to examine everyone. Meanwhile, Gegham Manukyan expressed concern that an attempt is being made to make the direct participants of the war part of the commission for further acquittals.
