“The more we talk about peace and peace-loving, the more we receive retaliatory aggression. I do not remember a case when the hand of peace we left was adequately accepted. Let us state that in the presence of peacekeepers, a young Armenian man is killed and others are wounded in their presence,” I Have Honor faction MP and chair of the NA Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs Taguhi Tovmasyan said to reporters during a briefing in the parliament on November 9th regarding the death of one Armenian and the wounding of 3 others in the “Under Shushi” portion.
According to her, civilized humanity is silently watching Azerbaijan celebrate the one-year anniversary of its murder and our loss of the homeland with fireworks. “We are left alone. Civilized humanity must condemn any such action by Azerbaijan. Armenia must condemn it first. If we do not, what else do we want from the world? The peacekeepers are there, but Azerbaijan is killing an Armenian- a civilian who was doing business. What is the Russian side doing? This is also a slap in the face to the Russian side. We must be demanding. Azerbaijan is sacrificing Armenians for its victory with such actions, so the world must respond.”
Taguhi Tovmasyan stressed that condemnation is not enough. “It should be spontaneous, not in the format of questions and answers. The texts of the condemnation must be sent to international structures.” The journalists asked if she imagined peaceful coexistence with the Azerbaijanis. The deputy answered, “I will find it difficult to say that it is possible. Let me answer with an example. When he was little, during the Soviet years in Vardenis there was peaceful coexistence with the Azerbaijanis. My uncle also communicated and made friends with an Azerbaijani. One day an Azerbaijani friend, who owed a debt to my uncle, invited him to eat lamb. They went to eat lamb in the mountains, and in the end he axed my uncle to death. In other words, they are the kind that hit from behind, ax-wielding, the type that gives birth to Safarovs, and even today they propagate hatred towards Armenians from school. I do not imagine peaceful coexistence.”
