“Do we have villages that are under blockade or not? And if we do not have any, where does that information come from on a daily basis in the press and social networks?” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan at the session of government.
He urged Sanosyan to provide information on the construction of alternative roads in Syunik. The residents of a number of villages in the Syunik region had difficulties traveling when the Azerbaijani side set up a customs point on the Kapan-Goris road. According to the minister, there are 7 routes.
“One of the roads is Tatev-Aghvani, which is finished and already passable, it is fine. We mentioned that three-layer asphalting is planned, and now both layers have been paved. In the spring, if there are any defects, we will correct them and the third layer will be paved. Work is underway on the other six roads, one of which is the Kashuni-Bardzravan road, which is 9.5 kilometers long. 3-5-4 km of that road have already been completely covered. In other parts, improvement works are being carried out in some places, road permeability is being regulated and, if necessary, paving works are being carried out.”

According to Gnel Sanosyan, the other is the Tandzaver-Shurnukh road, the length of which is 13 km. “Some of them are being built completely. There are some difficulties there, there is a part of the forest through which it passes. The same Shurnukh village has at least two roads. One is the Khot-Vorotan-Shurnukh road, which is normal, it works, and the other is the Shurnukh-Bardzravan road. I have already mentioned the road under construction, which is passable for all cars. 5 out of 10 kilometers of the Vorotan-Khotk road is completely ready, I mean it is not asphalted, but the foundation is completely ready for traffic. On the other 5 kilometers, improvement, and paving works are being carried out again.”
The Minister said that there are 2 more road sections: Kapan-Chakaten and Kapan-Geghanush-Chakaten. According to him, the foundation of the Geghanush-Chakaten section started a few days ago. “We also started paving works yesterday. There are some slopes, and we will finish the paving work in 2-3 days. The road will be easier and more passable. At the same time, we will build the new Kapan-Chakaten road, which will run almost parallel to the current road and will be easier and more accessible to cross.”
Gnel Sanosyan said that 19.9 km of Tatev-Ltsen road works are underway. He added that Vorotan, Shurnukh, and Bardzravan have roads, but the main difficulty is with the villages south of Chakaten, which will become more accessible in the next 2-3 days.
