Some Tatev residents are satisfied, others are dissatisfied with the alternative route

November 25,2021 16:44

The residents of the Tatev community in the Syunik region have conflicting opinions about the alternative road bypassing the Goris-Kapan highway. Donara Badalyan, a resident of Tatev, is very happy with the new road.

“Before, if we had to take a taxi to Goris or Kapan to go to the hospital or if you called an ambulance, they did not want to come for these roads. We used to spend two hours on the road to go to Kapan, and now, we get there in 40 minutes. They are good roads. Of course, it is good, we are satisfied with the roads, who would not be satisfied with such a thing? Importantly, our drivers are satisfied. Their cars kept breaking down. And now it has become the Lambada Bridge in Yerevan.”

She remembers that the guests of her guest house booked rooms many times, but they could not cross the roads. That’s how they canceled their reservations. “And now such things do not happen. They come, they are also surprised by something. It is very good that our guests are also satisfied with the roads.” Hazaravard Grigoryan thinks that it is very good that cars can pass that way. “But when Persian cars come, they create traffic jams. These turns are very difficult for them. But the Ltsen-Sisian road will be finished soon. That is the right route.” And another resident of Tatev,

Ruzan Aleksanyan, says that the roads have become very dangerous.

“The number of accidents has increased. We are witnesses. We see, we are also afraid. We do not see anything good. It has become a very dangerous road. And we do not know about the rest. But the winter that has come will be terrible in general. If they can build the road from Sisian to Kajaran, the situation will improve a little. But it does not look good. It is very dangerous for big cars. God forbid, but there will be accidents, we will not be able to come and go.”

Mrs. Ruzan remembers that a volunteer car crashed here, but fortunately nothing happened to the passengers. She thinks that it will be difficult for the residents of Tatev as well. “If something bad happens, we will not be able to come and go, especially in the winter. Nothing now, but in the winter… in short, there is nothing good here.”
