YEREVAN, ARMENIA (November 29, 2021) – High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan recently took a working trip to Russia to meet with Armenian communities around the country, particularly those in Moscow, Tver, St. Petersburg and Perm.
Considering that Russia’s Armenian community is one of the largest in the Diaspora, the High Commissioner made it a point to introduce the new Institute of Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, where he will be able to choose representatives in various Diaspora communities. In Moscow, the High Commissioner met with various groups, including Armenian entrepreneurs, members of the Association of Armenian Lawyers, journalists, artists and physicians. Additionally, High Commissioner Sinanyan toured the Armenian pavilion at Moscow’s VDNH (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) and attended a concert at the Lazarev Institute.
During his visit to Tver, the High Commissioner visited St. Harutyun Church and students from the local Armenian Sunday School. In St. Petersburg, the High Commissioner visited educational and cultural institutions, as well as the St. Petersburg branch of the Association of Armenian Lawyers. His last stop was in Perm, where he also met with representatives from Kirov and Udmurtia.

During all of his meetings, the High Commissioner discussed current challenges to Diaspora-Armenia cooperation and finding new ways to work together.
