“Nikol Pashinyan speaks only for the domestic community. Both his press conference and the video recording of the Sochi meeting were intended for domestic consumption. Otherwise, we would see the reflection of the thoughts voiced during that time in the statement. I have not seen a single expression in the statement that is directly in the interests of the Republic of Armenia,” said Hayk Mamijanyan, a member of the I Have Honor faction, during a discussion on “Border Instability and Security.”
He emphasized that in the statement, as in the November 9 document, the schedule of the return of the captives is not clearly mentioned. “Besides, the provision of economic nodes is not economically beneficial for Armenia. I have not seen readiness from any country, except Turkey and Azerbaijan, and there are volumes of economic cargo transportation, which makes it interesting. It is not an economic path. It is a political path, let us not deceive ourselves.”
Artur Ghazinyan, a member of the Armenian faction, said that Armenia had serious border problems and that it was an act of betrayal against the state. “Under incomprehensible and still unexplained circumstances, the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia was handed over, as a result of which the Goris-Kapan section and the Kapan-Front section were closed.”

According to Ghazinyan, the Russian president confirmed what they had said- that there were no state borders- so they could not use Soviet maps as a basis for the deployment of armed forces and the handover of sovereign territories. Political scientist Tigran Grigoryan said that one of the remarkable moments in the statement was that the role and significance of Russian peacekeepers were especially emphasized, because recently Azerbaijan has been pursuing a policy of delegitimizing the Russian peacekeeping mission.
