“Nikol Pashinyan assessed local elections, admitting that the Civil Contract failed in these elections. He tried to justify it by saying that they were busy with external challenges, had more important cases, and they recorded worse results than they expected because they did not distribute election bribes and no violations took place, but both now and in November, the state opened the pockets of social assistance on the eve of the elections. This is not just a coincidence, nothing happens by accident,” Artur Khachatryan, a member of the Armenia faction, said at a news conference on Monday.
He stated that the government had mobilized all its administrative resources for the local elections, but at the same time they lost.
“In only 15 out of 36 communities have they been able to get enough votes to form a single local government, while non-governmental forces can form a majority in 8 alone, and in 13 in a coalition, i.e., in 21. Yesterday, false information was spread. For example, to say that the Civil Contract won in Akhuryan means not to understand anything about the processes taking place there. In some of the communities where they claim to have won, they have in fact lost because they have relied on people who for years have served the interests of the current political power from election to election. Now they think that they have used those people in their communities, but in reality they have become a tool in the hands of opportunistic people who have no principles and are ready to leave the sinking ship at the first opportunity.

Let us state that Pashinyan, who lost more than 200,000 votes in 2021 compared to 2018, continues his chain of defeats, losing the elections in Kapan, Goris, Meghri, Akhuryan, and this is an ongoing process. He says that they have a mandate of the people and they will do whatever they want with that carte blanche, including opening an era of peace. We see that mandate is gradually decreasing and if it continues like this, very soon they will see that they have no support at all.”
