On December 7, the UN International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued a judgment on the Armenia v. Azerbaijan case. In particular, the UN Court stated that Azerbaijan must, within the framework of its commitments, ensure the safety of all those currently held captive in connection with the 2021 conflict, protect them from violence and inhuman treatment, as well as provide assurances on the use of such measures.
On the other hand, the court found that Azerbaijan should take measures to prevent the spread of hate speech and racial discrimination, including measures to ensure that people are not targeted for ethnicity by state institutions or officials.
The court also required that Azerbaijan take all necessary measures to punish all manifestations of vandalism against Armenian historical heritage. In particular, it said that Azerbaijan should assure that the exhibits of the Trophy Park, which were removed, will not be returned. On October 14-15, the UN International Court of Justice (ICJ) held public oral hearings in the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in Armenia. Armenia has asked the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to take a number of urgent measures, including the closure of the Baku Trophy Park and the return of prisoners of war and captured civilians.
