Why don’t you leave the USA to come live in Armenia? Are there any dangers from Turkey and Azerbaijan?: Liparityan answered, “No, it is normal if we behave normally”

December 15,2021 12:33

Historian and diplomat Zhirayr Liparityan was in the National Assembly. After a meeting with the members of the Civil Contract faction that lasted for about 2 hours, in a conversation with journalists, he urged them to read his “Armenia-Turkey: Statehood, Politics, History” book, saying that his answers are there. Official Turkey has stated that “reciprocal special representatives will be appointed with Armenia.”  The Armenian side also announced that it is ready to appoint a special envoy for dialogue with Turkey.

Aravot asked Mr. Liparityan about how people say that he wants to create a Turkey-Armenia here, and if he is ready to leave the USA and live here. He answered, “These kinds of questions come from people who, in fact, do not respond to my arguments and do not refer to the arguments. That kind of swearing, that kind of rhetorical question comes from people who are not ready to discuss what I said.  And I’m coming to Armenia.”

In response to the observation that he offers solutions for those who live here, but he does not live here himself, so does he see danger from Turkey or Azerbaijan for Armenia, Liparityan answered, “No. It’s normal if we behave normally.” In response to the observation that we are talking about the era of peace, yet they continue to kill and take captives, Liparityan urged us to read his book again and not to be lazy. The journalists answered, “Your book doesn’t say why they are capturing the citizens of Armenia after the ceasefire, why they are killing the civilians of Artsakh, aren’t these dangerous?” “You say random things, I asked basic analytical questions. I will not answer your question, there are assumptions in the question that are wrong.”
