“The actions of this government have never been a surprise. It was clear that they could boycott because the implementation of such measures is a necessity in the environment surrounding Armenia and Artsakh,” said the head of the Armenia faction Seyran Ohanyan at a briefing on December 15th. He stressed that the current difficult situation forces them to organize such discussions in order to give an assessment and find solutions, and first of all the government should have done that. There was no quorum at the special sitting convened by the opposition on December 15 as the Civil Contract deputies boycotted it.
Seyran Ohanyan noted that Armenian troops withdrew on the basis of verbal instructions, not understanding that the strategic points, important roads, and important heights are under the control of Azerbaijan today and as a result it will be difficult to demarcate the border. “It will be difficult to go back to where a soldier’s foot touched, and the negotiation process will be difficult. If we do not link demarcation and delimitation with the right of Artsakh to self-determination in one package, there will be a serious danger to the fate of Artsakh and the right of the people of Artsakh to live on their own historical territory. Delimitation and demarcation mean a peace treaty and recognition of mutual territorial integrity. The current authorities of the Republic of Armenia, whether they are one person or all of them, go to oral and written agreements, violating the procedures of adhering to the legislative points.” Seyran Ohanyan urged the authorities not to enter into any process that would jeopardize Artsakh and the fate of the people of Artsakh.
