“The biggest loss of Armenia is the loss and elimination of compassion for the population of Artsakh”: Tevan Poghosyan

December 22,2021 19:10

“In my opinion, the biggest loss of Armenia is the loss and elimination of compassion, care, empathy for the population of the Artsakh Republic,” said Tevan Poghosyan, President of the International Center for Human Development, during a press conference at the Henaran press club. According to him, we are forgetting about Artsakh more and more day by day.

Tevan Poghosyan does not see any development in the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. “They did not realize that Azerbaijan pursues a trade policy. The captive is an object by which Azerbaijan extorts everything it can from Armenia. We must understand that we pay for any captive. Either we have to create a situation in the international community, in international institutions, where there will be sanctions against Azerbaijan to intimidate Azerbaijan to the point of voluntarily returning the captives or we need to be able to take the same number of captives, to exchange them all for everyone. There is no other mechanism. Otherwise, you will surrender something to receive the captives.”

According to Tevan Poghosyan, Azerbaijan has been and will remain an enemy. “There is no sense in believing kind words. This is the same Azerbaijani that, if the opportunity arose, would cut the throat of an Armenian with an ax at night. In which part it will be able to achieve it by force, in which part it will not be able to achieve it by force, it will achieve its goals through an unequal peace agenda.”

Tevan Poghosyan considers that the solution to the current situation is that these authorities must voluntarily leave, after which a national government or anti-crisis team will be formed. He continued, “I am not saying to go to the polls again, because they do not solve any issue either within the framework of positive euphoria or in case of negative moods.”

Touching upon Armenian-Turkish relations, Tevan Poghosyan said, “Once again we have a losing approach where all the preconditions from Turkey are on the table, but we do not set any preconditions. We enter the process where we have big gaps. I have said more than once that Armenia should negotiate with everyone in the world, but negotiation driven by fear will always bring defeat. The biggest lesson we had to learn is not that something is negotiated and then presented to the Armenian nation, but from the beginning we have to visit all the centers, investigate the problems, then enter the negotiation room with a new document.”
